We spent the night in a beautiful B&B in Scourie. There is even a fish and chip van near the shops for a quick hot super but in the morning we needed to get a move on so taking the rhubarb muffins our B & B host gave us we set off for the days adventures.
On From Wick to the Top of Scotland
Wick is a good place to stop for the night. At the top of the A9 its only sixteen miles from John O’Groats due to be our first stop of the day.
A Road Trip on the NC 500
I had been thinking about a road trip for a while- I thought the Pan-American Highway or maybe the Pacific Coast Highway Tom Petty sang about. Torquay’s Miniature Village
A new favourite and its not a museum! This one surprised me as it was just somewhere to fill a spare day and we absolutely loved it. As a fan of dolls houses I like all things miniature but this place is significantly better then the standard rather grubby and tatty model village.
Lindisfarne
On our way up to Scotland to drive the NC 500 a stop on the Northumberland coast gave us the chance to visit Lindisfarne at last.
Coffee Time in Canterbury – Queen Bee Home
This charming interiors and gift shop in Mercery lane has recently opened a coffee shop.
The Normandy Coast, Honfleur and Rouen
Honfleur and Rouen in Normandy are both places we’d managed to miss on previous visits to France so we were keen to visit them.

Tea, Flowers and Kandy
We wanted to go up to the cool highlands and see the tea plantations but first we had to visit Kandy.
Kandy was the last capital of the kings of Sri Lanka. Its highlight is Sri Dalanda Maligawa, the Temple of the Tooth.
Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle Many Steps, Many Dagobas,
Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy form a compact area in the middle of the island known as the cultural triangle. This triangle contains the ancient capitals, many dagobas, cave temples, and wildlife making it an ideal place to explore when you finally tear yourself away from the fantastic beaches.
