Wick is a good place to stop for the night. At the top of the A9 its only sixteen miles from John O’Groats due to be our first stop of the day.

A Road Trip on the NC 500
I had been thinking about a road trip for a while- I thought the Pan-American Highway or maybe the Pacific Coast Highway Tom Petty sang about. But when I put the idea to JP although he agreed it was a good idea he decided on the NC 500. JP likes to drive on the right (left!) side of the road so we planned a trip to Scotland. Torquay’s Miniature Village
A new favourite and its not a museum! This one surprised me as it was just somewhere to fill a spare day and we absolutely loved it. As a fan of dolls houses I like all things miniature but this place is significantly better then the standard rather grubby and tatty model village.

Collioure and Albi, Historic Towns of the Languedoc

Sur Le Pont
There are several great towns not far from Carcassonne. The advantage of Avignon is you pass the Pont Du Gard on the way
Around Carcassonne – Away from the City
The most obvious trip to take after you’ve been round Carcassonne at least twice is a boat ride on the Canal Du Midi.
